"Development of polymer electrolyte membrane for Fuel Cell"

Fuel Cell is an energy converion device that converts chemical energy directly into electrical enetrgy. Polymer electolyte fuel cells shows significant advantages compared to the other fuel cells due to their higher power density (>0.6 W/cm2), lower working temperature (30 °C - 180 °C) and increased durability. The polymer electrolyte membrane used in PEMFC has the most important job of ion conduction while blocking electron and reactant seperation. Commercially available perfluorinated have limitations such as high dependance on water content for conduction, limited chemical stabilty, reduced conductivity at elivated temperature and high cost. We are developing non-fluorinated poly-aromatic polymer electrolyte membrane with enhance condcutivty and robust chemical and mechanical strength for fuel cell applications.
