I, Prof. Kaushik Pal, welcome you all to our website, through which you may interact with our group members as well as can find your interests matching with our research to have some collaboration. We are having four distinct laboratories (i) Advanced Composite Laboratory, (ii) Chemical Laboratory, (iii) Dynamic Mechanical Analysis Laboratory (iv) Biomaterials: Cell Culture laboratory. In our research, we have focused towards synthesis and modification of different types of nanofillers (especially CNTs and graphene) for their applications in sensors, fuel cells, energy storage devices and polymer/metal matrix composites for aerospace and structural applications. Beyond the use of graphene/CNTs based fillers in preparing composites for electronic applications, the use of carbon black, nanoclay, CNTs and graphene as reinforcement for preparation of polymer composites has been studied to observe the effects of these fillers towards mechanical and rheological properties of polymers. Also, modifications of fillers (i.e. SiC, Al2O3, Ni, TiO2 etc.) have been initiated for metal matrix composites to solve the critical issue of agglomeration which has significant effect for enhancement of various mechanical and thermal properties for their applicability in aerospace. In addition to this, my lab is also involved in synthesis of different types of modified and unmodified nanofillers for targeted drug delivery towards cancer cells and biomedical implants. |
